You would seriously not come on the trip of a lifetime because you might see a few harmless bugs?

In Sydney, you will see cockroaches - so what? They're harmless and cockroaches are part of life in most of the world's cities.

You may see a big spider or two - so what? The big ones are harmless and won't ever actually get on you. They're too scared of you to ever do that. As for the not so harmless ones: I've lived in Australia for over 50 years and have NEVER seen a poisonous spider and you won't either.

Don't be an idiot and miss out on a life changing experience because of something that's all in your imagination.

The chances of comming across a cockroach is very high. But they are the least of your worries.

As for spiders, the big ones are harmless, infact I have an 8cm huntsman spider that lives in my bedroom, I don't mind, he keeps the bug population low.

The spiders to worry about are the red back spider & the funnel web spider:

http://www.calacademy.org/exhibits/venoms/images/00_final/sydney_funnel_web_spider.jpg

both of these spiders are quite small.

The red back lives dark places & normaly won't bother you unless you litteraly put your hand right on top of it. If you do, you'll know about it. Very painful.

The funnel web is slightly larger & likes to live in shoes, so check your shoes before putting them on, they have highly toxic venom & can kill you. They are only found around the Sydney area tho.

You'll find the mosquitio's more annoying than the cockroaches so bring plenty of bug spray (well, you can buy it here).

As for living in Sydney, you shouldn't come across anything else to worry about. Most snakes won't come into built up area's.

Oh actualy, around the Sydney coast line there are blue ringed octopus, they are deadly as well

Their not found at the beach, so swimming is fine :) Just don't stick your hand under ledges & in cracks in the rockpools, on the rocky points.

With all these animals, the basic rule is 'you leave it alone, it'll leave you alone'.

Overall, don't be put off. The chances of comming across one of these is very low. Also, don't be scared to head out of Sydney & checkout the surrounding country side (Blue Mountains are close by)

Flake out on sun-drenched beaches, eat at award-winning restaurants and a great deal more is what you would get in your visit to Sydney. Learn more with hotelbye . Among the world's good symbols and a certainly should see in Sydney is the Sydney Opera House, a location is really a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the star attraction on the glittering harbour. That elegant building, shaped like shells or billowing sails, perches on a hand of land surrounded by water. Sydney is really a unique spot to invest your vacation so, don't lose the ability to visit a great city.

There is a few spiders, but heres a tip, if its got a red streak on the back stay away, and if its black , its not good. basically if you dont want to squish it, get fly spray, but there isnt many near or in cities and at night only mossies are problems, and there are a few flies, depends on the temperature. cochroaches not so much. google funnel web spider, theyre found near sydney, and look at it closely, if you DO get bitten by one of these, get to a hospital ASAP. call 000 within seconds, as its the most deadly animal in the world. but unless ur a the zoo, u probably wont see any. ok? dont worry, its not bad, otherwise nobody would live hear. and the majority of spiders are daddy long legs or money spiders.

Big spiders (some are dangerous ) snakes little lizards (geckos) etc are extremely common all around the place but more so in more 'outback' places or if ur camping aswell as possums bats kangaroos etc the wildlife is pretty awesome.

honestly dont b put off u will get use to all the 4 /2 legged friends!!!

You will see more cockroaches than spiders..

Seriously, are you going to stay in a tree? If not, then don't worry about the bugs.
