I have an opportunity to get a job in Sydney and they would pay me A$ 65000 annually. Is this enough for a single guy in his late twenties? What could I afford with this income?

Thanks

You would have a modest but comfortable lifestyle with the occasional lavish fling. $65000 is below the average earnings in Sydney but averages are skewed by the high earners. You would be close to the median income. To make the most of it look for share accommodation rather than getting a flat by yourself.

well not sure what your definition of "a normal living" is and on that salary by the time you take out tax and super and travel expenses there will be just enough to live a quiet budget life considering the extreme rents in sydney and the general cost of living...

however if that particular job will lead to better and more opportunities you should jump at the chance to live in one of the worlds most beautiful cities

You will just have to learn to budget a little. $65,000 may seem a lot, but after tax, rent, transport, insurances food etc, doesn`t leave you much.

Remember, you take that annual amount after tax, and divided it by 12, if your on a monthly salary, and go from there working out your budget.

This would help when it comes to cost of living information, http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/city_result.jsp?country=Australia&city=Sydney.

Now this one's to compare salaries in AU, http://bitly.com/1js0A4N .

It would be thrice and one quater of what the Aussie pension is annually. You would be able to live good. Save money be sensible buy from opp shops ,get train home late rather than taxis. You will be more than fine.
